1. Before we dive into your role at TAG Direct, what has your career journey looked like so far?
I started my professional career in a sales role for a television network, back when digital was merely an afterthought. Working in sales was riveting and challenging. We had very clear goals to reach and targets which affected the whole team.Â
I was then appointed as the Marketing Manager of a private school, where I was responsible for rebranding and managing the implementation of a new communication app between the school and parent body.
2. Transitioning into work, what the heck does a Client Lead @ TAG Direct do?
What is TAG Direct?
Whether you are an established brand or fledgling business, TAG Direct exists to give you access to best in class marketing services. Put simply, we’re a hungry (and fast growing) bunch of creatives, performance experts, strategists, web designers and developers all waiting to get their hands onto something. It’s like working with hyenas, only ours are lovely.
What does a client lead do?
As TAG’s Client Lead, I am responsible for leading a team of five account managers delivering market leading digital solutions for over 50 clients. I also have responsibilities in business development and mentoring younger staff.
What does your role entail?
The first client I brought to TAG is a Plastic Surgeon who at the time was looking to build his private practice. Through content marketing, social media advertising and Google advertising we are building his brand and expanding his practice. It has been really fulfilling to be a part of something from the very beginning.

3. What’s a campaign you previously worked on in your current role and how did you help bring it to life?
Campaign Name: Western Health Emergency Department Recruitment Campaign
Example: https://frontlinecareers.wh.org.au/
What was it?
In September 2021, Western Health asked TAG to develop recruitment campaigns for the Emergency Department and the Midwifery Department.Â
Needing more healthcare professionals and seeing that the search needed to be expanded overseas, we were challenged to create an international social media campaign to attract overseas candidates to Western Health’s hospitals.
What was your role?
I led a team of creatives, developers, copywriters, performance specialists, and strategists to deliver the Frontline Careers campaign.Â
The Frontline Careers campaign included a website, Out of Home, recruitment marketing, performance marketing, print media, and videography.
Working with Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson OBE, we created a moving video which cut through to potential recruits, making the campaign a huge success for Western Health. Evidence of this success was demonstrated further by Western Health extending the campaign into 2022.
4. What do the entry level pathways into digital marketing consulting look like?
What are the entry level roles at TAG Direct?Â
We have an incredibly robust internship program which we have run since 2019. The program seeks to identify students who wish to experience daily life at a fast-paced agency. The best interns are offered entry level roles and mentored to grow their skillset in digital marketing.
How about the rest of the industry?
It can be hard to find your first role in marketing. Entry level pathways can vary across companies, but generally agencies will be looking for some level of experience. It is important to get exposure to agency life in any way you can.
5. What’s one thing you recommend someone who wants to work in digital marketing consulting do right now?
The best thing an aspiring marketer could do is get some experience at an agency and ask a lot of questions. Stand out for the one thing that you are the best at. Specialise don’t generalise. Choose your skill, be it content creation, Google ads, account management, strategy etc.
